Frequenty Asked Questions

Does it cost anything to speak to a lawyer?
There is no charge for an initial consultation with a lawyer and no charge for follow-up conversations prior to hiring us to represent you.

In what areas do you accept cases?
We serve clients throughout the province of British Columbia. Although we are based in Victoria, BC, we handle many cases up island, in the lower mainland, and the interior of the province.

What kind of fees do you charge?
We have several different fee arrangements available, generally depending on the type of case.
»   Criminal matters are often conducted on a flat fee basis, based on the charges faced and the amount of court time required.
»   Personal injury cases are done on a contingency fee basis, meaning we charge a percentage of the settlement recovered on your behalf. You do not pay any fees until you receive a settlement.
»   Family law cases are usually charged on an hourly rate of between $150 and $250 per hour. The amount of time required for each case depends on many factors. Call the office and one of our lawyers can provide you with a no obligation estimate for your matter.
»   If you cannot afford a lawyer you may qualify for legal aid. We would be happy to assist you in applying for assistance.

Do you accept Legal Aid funded cases?
Yes, we accept many legal aid cases.
